I have always loved making things with my hands. When I was little I loved making funny little critters out of clay. In high school I loved making jewelry. In college I specialized in sculpture, and got a Bachelor of Fine Art at Northwest Missouri State University. After college I came across a wonderful photography technique that allowed me to manipulate the emulsion of a photograph by hand to make luminous, dreamy images, which I sold at fine art fairs around the Midwest for 6 years. When my son was born in 2006 I was lucky enough to get to stay home with him, and a couple of years later, his brother. For eight years I loved being home with my kids, but most of my creativity went into Halloween costumes and craft projects and was somewhat smothered by lack of sleep and energy! When my little one started kindergarten in 2013 I discovered glass!! It allows me to work with my hands, with color, with abstract design, and with heat! Glass also has the luminous quality that I always loved about the emulsion transfer photographs. I am so grateful and happy to get to explore and create with this medium. I hope you get some joy from my work as well!
